Introduction

The educational programme “Providing Financial Services through Innovative Information and Communication Technologies (Fintech)” examines the use of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain and mobile banking, for the provision of financial services. It covers topics such as digital payments, open banking, digital wallets and mobile apps, while also analysing regulatory challenges and the impact of the technology on banks and investors.

Purpose - Objective

The purpose of the educational programme is to train participants in the use of new technologies in the financial sector. The aim is to understand the potential and advantages of Fintech, to learn to apply innovative technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and digital payments, as well as to manage the challenges of the regulatory framework and the new business models that are being developed.

Academic Supervisors’ Details

Panayiotis Kyriakogonas

He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance at Neapolis University in Paphos, a member of the International Institute of Internal Auditors and a Certified Internal Auditor. He holds the certifications of Certified Internal Auditor (C.I.A.), Certified Government Auditing Professional (C.G.A.P.) and Certified in Control Self- Assessment (C.C.S.A.). He is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece and holds a class A’ tax accountant license. He is a member of the Register of Internal Auditors of the Ministry of Finance. He holds a degree in Public Administration with specialization in Public Finance from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom and a PhD in Business Administration from the University of the Aegean. He has extensive experience of over 15 years in internal audit in both listed and unlisted companies. In addition, he has over 15 years of experience in providing accounting and tax services to various companies. He has participated in international conferences and has published original articles and studies in peer-reviewed journals and the specialised press on topics related to accounting, corporate governance, internal control systems and internal audit and has over 6 years of teaching experience, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. His research interests cover the areas of corporate governance, accounting, risk management and auditing.
