The educational programme focuses on the maintenance and improvement of the production process in businesses, covering a range of methodologies and tools. The basic maintenance methods, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance), as well as the following types of maintenance: corrective, reparative, and preventive are examined. The importance of maintenance management information systems (CMMS) and the implementation of the pillars of TPM are explained, with a focus on increasing productivity and reducing losses. In addition, methodologies such as 5S for workplace organization, and SMED for reducing changeover time in production are presented. Autonomous maintenance is analyzed with its stages and its advantages, as well as the treatment of 7 wastes aiming to improve efficiency. To conclude, examples of the application of these methodologies in real industrial scenarios are given, while the importance of preventive maintenance and workforce training for the safety and efficiency of production systems is highlighted.
The purpose of the programme is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes in businesses, through the application of modern maintenance and optimisation methodologies. Also, to create conditions that will ensure the safe operation of production systems, while improving the efficiency and sustainability of the business processes.

The authors of the book are Mr. Barkas Dimitrios and Mr. Gryparis Emmanouil. Mr. Barkas is a PhD Candidate of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of West Attica, holds a degree in Computer Science and Telecommunications and a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. For the last five years he has been a scientific and laboratory collaborator of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, while he has been participating in research projects on the vulnerability of high-voltage equipment and the monitoring and maintenance procedures of the respective equipment. He has also participated in writing groups regarding university educational material, and has publications in reputable scientific journals and conferences.
Mr. Gryparis Emmanouil is a postgraduate student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of West Attica and holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a specialization in Energy. Mr. Gryparis is a member of the research team of the High and Energy Systems Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of West Attica and has publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
