Sheet Metal Technician

The purpose of the training programme is to present the basic professional functions performed by the skilled sheet metal technician. The manufacture, repair and installation of sheet metal products for air management systems, roofs, interior and exterior coatings is the scope of work of the Sheet Metal Worker. In detail, the Sheet Metal Worker Technician:

• cuts laminates,
• shapes them,
• assembles them,
• places them,
• repairs them, and
• controls the quality of the products he/she produces.

The Sheet Metal Technician will be required to operate workshop equipment effectively. He/she should also be able to participate in various other production processes, such as primary maintenance, quality checks, and practical training of his/her colleagues.

In addition, the special construction sheet metal worker manufactures and repairs sheet metal products for aviation and shipbuilding projects. Such construction requires strict compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications, precision, the use of special tools and equipment and a basic knowledge of the specific alloys of the metals used in this industry. Furthermore, he/she must know the basic purpose and importance of the specific part or assembly in the operation of the overall product (Aircraft, Ship, etc.). The Sheet Metal Worker may open his/her own workshop or work in other sheet metal shops. The Sheet Metal Worker of special constructions may work in repair and manufacturing facilities for Aircraft and Ships.

The programme is implemented through distance asynchronous tele-education, is four hundred (400) hours long and does not require the presence of trainees in in-person meetings.
