Gas Technician

INFORMATON

Introduction

The educational programme focuses on natural gas, its properties as a fuel, and its combustion. The stages in the gas supply chain, from production to delivery to homes and businesses, are examined, and the categories of indoor installations are classified. The components of the networks, such as pipes, valves and gas appliances, are then analysed, as well as methods of protecting pipes against corrosion. The process of designing and installing indoor networks and the principles involved in their installation are presented. In addition, methods of repairing active networks, such as “hot tapping” and “double stopple by-pass” are discussed, with emphasis on worker safety. Finally, the inspection and maintenance procedures for gas networks are covered, including the different types of maintenance and the tools that are used.

Purpose - Objective

The aim of the programme is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of natural gas as a fuel, its supply process, and the key elements and techniques involved in its installation and maintenance. In particular, the programme aims to familiarise participants with the supply chain stages, piping and network components, as well as the devices and methods of system protection. It also provides knowledge of active network repair techniques and best practices for worker safety, as well as network inspection and maintenance procedures. The ultimate goal is for participants to gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively install, maintain and manage natural gas networks, ensuring safety and efficiency.
